Judge Rules In Favor Of Small Coffee Shop

Los Angeles, CA (AHN) - A federal judge rules a small New Hampshire coffee shop can continue offering its "Charbucks" brand coffee beans, following an almost ten-year legal battle with coffee giant Starbucks Corp.

Judge Laura Swain of New York federal court ruled last month it was unlikely coffee hounds would be confused between Starbucks and the "Charbucks" and "Mister Charbucks" coffee brands sold by the family-owned Black Bear Micro Roastery of Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire.

Swain also ruled Starbucks failed to prove the "Charbucks" products tarnished its image.

Starbucks first complained of Black Bear’s use of "Charbucks" back in 1997.
