How to Remove Coffee Stains

Here's a little helpful tip for those unforeseen coffee mishaps. Courtesy of simplehuman.

Unsightly coffee stains can be persistent and hard to clean. To remove a coffee stain from fabric or a rug, try one of these methods:
  1. Dip a white cloth into a beaten egg yolk and rub the yolk into the stain. Then rinse with clear water.
  2. Work denatured alcohol into the stain, then rinse with water.
  3. Apply a solution of 1/2 teaspoon mild detergent in a pint of water. Blot with a white towel. If the stain remains, apply a 50-50 solution of water and white vinegar and blot.

Did you know that used coffee grounds make a great fertilizer for houseplants? Just sprinkle them around the base of the plants.
